It was a pretty warm afternoon for the annual ladies vs men event, a grudge match, as the ladies lost last year. Martina suggested a pink tea shirt theme, whereby the ladies decided to go all 'Grease-like' and dress as the Pink Ladies for the occasion.

The club was in constant use over the weekend, with competition matches, league fixtures and social events taking place. Read on for a rundown of an entertaining few days.

Fancy a Sunday afternoon in the sunshine (hopefully!), sipping prosecco with a cream tea? £3.50 for a scone and tea; £5 for a scone and glass of prosecco. There will be beautiful surroundings and a chance to have a try at bowling - what's not to like? Come and join us!

Triples Competition 2026 The weather was fine, the green looked in perfect condition, and a gentle breeze promised for a good bowling day. Ten teams played four games of an hour each over the course of the day, with the top two progressing to the final later in the afternoon.

What a fantastic week it's been. Whilst last week's matches were dominated by torrential downpoors and soggy greens, this week we have been bathed in warm to very hot sunshine for days on end, as the UK recorded record temperatures. It makes the game of bowls a pleasure to play, although some have their limits in the heat, as shown when this week's ladies' friendly match was cancelled due to the high temperature. As our internal competitions get going, singles bowlers will need someone to mark their matches. This week's coaching special edition is on marking. Coach's corner Allan gives us a comprehensive expanation of what a marker should do, whilst Wendy was recently a marker at a tournament for blind bowlers, and she gives us an account of the intricacies of marking/guiding the blind player. Both Wendy and Allan have both taken the markers' course, so are happy to answer any queries

Open day fun in the sun Alex and Kerry, who cycled from Haywood to join us It was a beautiful warm and sunny day for our open day last weekend. Many of our members came along and helped to make the day a really successful one. Special Edition - All about the green This week's Cornish tour team, enjoying the green As you probably know, the majority of our annual subscription is spent on the green, with greenkeeping contractors regularly attending to maintain it. President's Day The weather It was an interesting start to the afternoon, with glorious sunshine to welcome members back for the new season, followed almost immediately with a downpour of hail that turned the green white for a few minutes. It wasn't long before the hail disappeared and an afternoon of sun and minor showers with fresh winds then prevailed.
