What does membership of the club entail?

Anyone can be a member of Banwell Bowling Club, although the rules are slightly different for those under the age of 18. The club also has a limited number of social members who do not play or take part in committee activities. Non-bowling spouses of full members count as social members.

There is a subscription for members, and also a charge for each match, ranging from £1 to £3

The Club committee may refuse membership, or remove it, only for good cause such as conduct or character likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute. Appeal against refusal or removal may be made to the members.

Members take part in the running and upkeep of the club, including occasional cleaning and bar duties. There are also voluntary roles maintaining the club and surrounds.

Members can introduce visitors - each visitor is the guest of the member introducing them. More detail on the rules around guests can be found here, in the Club's constitution.

Junior Members

Junior members need a sponsor at the club to enable them to join. The sponsor, an existing member, will be responsible for supervision of the junior at the club. A junior member must not attempt to buy any alcoholic drinks at the bar, even for consumption by adult members, or drink alcohol on the premises.

Junior membership is free.

Banwell Bowling Club is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children and young persons to practice and play bowls.

How much does membership cost?

The annual subscription for full and social members decided yearly at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and is due to be paid by 1st December for the following year.
