Weekly News
The Umbrella competition started this week, with Trevor organising teams and keeping score. It starts at 6:15pm every Monday until the middle of August - it's wise to get there a bit earlier to avoid the crush at the bar!

Don't forget, Allan/Wendy will hold coaching sessions every Monday at 4:45pm, prior to the start of the Umbrella at 6:15pm. As well as instruction on the green, the coaches will provide hints and tips, pointers on rules, and of course, etiquette.
Why not come along and join in?
Call Mike Nickson, club captain on 07708 451348 for details, and to book a place.
Open Day
The open day is approaching at speed - with less than 2 weeks to go to the event on Saturday 24th May. It will run from 11am to 5pm, with a sausage sizzle available from 12-2pm, and tea and cake in the afternoon.
There will also be a sale of pre-loved bowls clothes and equipment, plus plants and bric a brac, books and puzzles. If you have any items you can donate to these, please bring them into the clubhouse. Dee will run a whisky and a Baileys raffle. Bob and Janis will have the bar open.
We will need some help with all of this, so please let Wendy know if you can do any of the following:

Light the BBQ and cook a few(!) sausages
Make a cake
'Meet and greet’ non members and help them to have a go at bowling if they want to
Man the stalls, including tea and cakes

You don’t have to be there all day; whatever time you can give will be appreciated. Hope to see you there - bring your friends to come and watch, and to have a go. All they need is flat shoes and some enthusiasm!
Men's vs Ladies match
Please make sure the date is in your diary, and sign up for ladies vs men online here, on the app, or on the board in the clubhouse. The match will be drawn at next week's selection committee.
Calling all members - are you free on Fridays?

We've been having a go at a shorter version of bowling called bowls bash. It takes about an hour, and we're finding it to be great fun. If you fancy a go, why not come along to the club on Fridays at 3pm to join in?
Easy Fundraising
Thanks to people shopping through the easyfundraising app, the club has a small addition to club funds, with no expense to the shopper. Imagine how much we'd raise if all members shopped this way.....
Match Report
Four Dimensions at home to Yatton 07/05/25
We had an evening match in the sun against friends from Yatton, scoring a win on 3 of the events: Chris Wilson held off a spirited comeback against his opponent in the singles 21-18, whilst the pairs saw Hillary and Trevor Burnett win 19-11, with Trevor on fire.
The triples of John Wright, Paul Aldus and Alan Shattock were overcome by a late surge, losing 12-19 (Nine of the shots against in the last four ends.)
Victory was confirmed in the rink match skipped by Barry Taylor playing with Lea Bean, Harry Woodards and Lee Pheasant winning 19-15. Our turn for a late surge, with eight shots picked up on the last three ends.
Men's friendly away at St Andrews 08/04/25
Thanks to Janis Grant for stepping in for a no show, and Lea Bean stepping up to skip. Good experience was gained for all here, despite the loss. Mike Turnbull had our only win. John Wright's team lost on the last end against a strong match up.
North 1B team away at Nailsea 10/05/25
A lot of changes to the line up gave numerous newer players a feel for a league match. Well done to all and thanks to those last minute changes which had to be made. John Wright had his work cut out keeping up.
Hillary captained the B team today with young Hugh Biddlecombe making his debut. A difficult day saw a loss on our three rinks against a strong team. Good experience was gained once again.
