What is NSML?
Banwell hosted its first NSML (North Somerset Mixed League) match on Tuesday evening. This is the first season for the league after being trialled last year. There is no cup at the end as it is aimed at inexperienced and working bowlers who might not be able to play in weekday matches.
Rain, rain, go away...
We arrived amidst cloudy skies and a few raindrops. Having thought we might have to cancel, we were able to complete the evening without getting too wet!
We were up against two teams from West Backwell who sent along new players, as well as some more experienced bowlers. After the first 8 ends, Banwell swapped rinks to play the other team and we all played another 8 ends.
The Result
Banwell were the eventual winners gaining 25 points to 14. The team from West Backwell were a great bunch of people, and we look forward to playing them again as per the rules of the league.
As we found out in the first match of the new league, a mix of new players along with some more seasoned bowlers makes for a good match.
I think we all took something away from the evening and are looking forward to playing the remaining 6 matches. Look out for them to appear on the booking system along with the sheets on the notice board and get those names down!
