Both A & B teams were again involved in the league this weekend. The A team faced league leaders Ashcombe on a wet and windy rink in Weston, whilst the B team had a game at home against St Andrews.
The A team had a very mixed afternoon with the rink of Chris Wilson Trevor Burnett, Vic MaCardell and Captain Hilary G cruising to a fine 28-12 win against an Ashcombe rink that hadn’t lost a game all season. The other two rinks sadly didn’t fare so well, with Phil Villis and his rink of John Wright, Lee Pheasant and Paul Aldus, victorious last week and 19-15 up with two ends to go and then dropping 7 shots on the last end!
At that point the overall game score was tied at 57-57. And so it came down to the last end of the game with John Davies and his rink needing to win that end by one shot. A wicked wick by Alan Shattock and a cool draw by John D with his last wood resulted in an 18-12 loss on the rink but a win overall 59-57 for the team.
The B team, captained by Mal Laycock, went one better against their opposition this week winning on on two rinks and drawing the third. Wins by Malcolm and President Barry Taylor and a draw by Alan Vickery ended with a score of 60-50, resulting in an 11-1 points win; they are now second in the table with two games to play.
Well done chaps!
