Hi all
Hope you are looking forward to the start of the new season? Read on for the first of a series of newsletters building up to those lovely spring days in the sunshine on the green.

2026 subscriptions
It time to sign up again for the new season. The new, updated membership/renewal form is online here, and very easy to complete/ submit; please use this if you can, as it enables us to hold the information securely, and all in one place. Alternatively, you can download and print a paper version, or contact Wendy (07774 553145) if you have any problems. Please pay by BACS if possible (details are on the form) as cash and cheques are subject to a bank charge to the club.
The form needs to be completed by mid-March at the latest. Please make sure your phone number is accurate on the form, so that it can be put in the club handbook, ready for the new season.
Also a reminder that as a member, you will need to tick on the form to agree to abide by Bowls England code of conduct - the code has recently been updated and a copy is available here.
Fixtures List
The fixtures for the year are now available on the website here, or on the first tab of the Spaces app (tap the page to make the list bigger).
Short mat bowling

Many thanks to Trevor Garfield who managed to negotiate the donation of a short mat bowling surface from Hutton Moor Leisure Centre! Here it is, laid out in the clubhouse, ready for use.
We are planning to run some short mat sessions before the outdoor season starts. This is just for fun and an opportunity to get together.
We are finalising the arrangements, so look out for more information on dates and times very soon. Come along and give it a try.
County/national competitions
Why not think about taking part in some of these competitions? They are open to anyone

and include singles, doubles, and triples. The early rounds are all played locally and they are a good chance to test yourself against other players.
To register go to the SBA website - the closing date is 14th February.
Defibrillator
Following the discussion at the AGM in November, and having looked at the options to provide an inhouse defibrillator, the committee have decided that rental is the best option.
This is available for £366.98 for an annual subscription including all consumables and maintenance. The cost will be covered by charitable contributions to the club through events etc. but if anyone is willing to donate a month's rental (£30) then let us know.
This a great safeguard for members but it's equally important that we have people who can provide CPR if required. We will set up some training sessions for late March/early April, so look out for the dates and please support them.
Wendy Coleman
Club Secretary

Really looking forward to the new season - hope to see you at short mat!
