Coaching Congratulations, Wendy and Allan

Wendy and Allan attended the final assessment of their coach bowls level 1 qualification on Sunday, and I am delighted to say they both passed!
Congratulations to both of you. You are a valuable asset to our club.
First meeting of the Social sub-committee
The social sub-committee met for the first time last week. Mike Nickson, Barry Taylor, Wendy Coleman, Paul Aldus, Kim Wright, Sue Taylor, Pete Shipton and Jackie Parkinson got around the table to talk about such issues as buying junior bowls, and creating a ramp to enable disabled people to come into the club.
Look out for the minutes from the meeting for more information on social events and changes that have been suggested for the club.

New weekly bowling events
Friday is our new social day of the week, with Bowls Bash open to any members at 2pm until about 3.30pm, and Pay 'n' Play evening sessions for both members and non-members being successfully piloted after 6pm. You will see evidence of these around the club, such as the Bowls Bash banner, and the sign up sheets for evening sessions.
If you have any questions or suggestions, talk to Kim about Bowls Bash, and Mike Nickson about Pay'n' Play.
Drink Tea for MND
Don't forget, we are hosting our charity coffee morning at the end of the month. We will be looking for home made cakes and raffle prizes from members, so please help if you can.
Click the register now button below to see details and let us know you can come, or just turn up on the day.

And finally....
The first round of competitions is almost complete.
Click here to see the updated sheets on the website, or scroll along to the Internal competitions tab on the Spaces app to see them.
Also, please note that the pre-loved clothes sale rail will be dismantled following the coffee morning on 27th June, so get your bargain items before it goes!
However, if you need something after that, the items will be advertised individually on the Buying and Selling section of Clubhouse Chat.

Our new players had another good day, skipped by Sue Taylor and I. Sue's team had a tight 6-4 loss on their first round of 8 ends which was levelled out by a 6-4 win on ours.
The second round saw wins on both of our rinks 7-3 and 9-1 respectively. Well done to Bob and Janis Grant, Wayne Butcher, Rob and Sue Taylor, Dave Allen and Angela Merchant.

An earlier downpour had made the green a little heavy. Although surrounded by angry looking clouds only a minor spell of light rain intervened.
Going into the final few ends, we were in with a chance after President Barry's team had opened a commanding lead. John Wright's team threatened the comeback of the season after being ten nil down and took the lead. Paul Aldus tried in vain to hold on to the coat tails of our opposition.
However, it was not to be and we ended up losing overall by 9 shots, picking up 2 points on Barry's rink.
