As the season rushes headlong towards Finals Day, we are enjoying a full programme of internal competitions, league matches and friendlies.
However, we have several members who have been poorly, have broken bones needing surgery, or who are having surgery for new joints. The club's best wishes for a full recovery go to you all.
Updated Rinks Day programme, Sunday 10th August, 10.00
The draw has been updated to reflect changes to entrants and is shown below. Remember this is a full day competition, starting at 10.00, and you will need to bring your lunch. There will be a competition fee of £3, payable on the day.

Looking forward to seeing you there for a great day's day's competition.

Last evening of the Umbrella Competition, 18th August
This season's competition is drawing to an end, with 2 weeks left to play. The top four-placed players will each be placed in a different team for the next two weeks and will be offered the role of skip for the last match on 18th August. Click here to see the umbrella table - the latest one will be uploaded as soon as it is available..
As many of you know, our last night is fancy dress (optional) and fish 'n'chips.

Trevor says: We intend to keep the menu choices simple and will have cod and chips, pie and chips and scampi and chips as menu options.
The list will be on the notice board by next week or earlier showing the cost of each option — details will also be sent by a further e mail when available.
Please add your names to the list if you are attending. Payment on or before the 18th can be made to me by cash or cheque (payable to T Garfield — in an envelope for my attention please.) The food will be delivered to the clubhouse after play on the 18th.
In other news
Due to a change in membership, we don't currently have the resources to host the Friday night Pay and Play sessions. If this changes before the end of the season, we will of course, re-advertise the sessions. In the meanwhile, if you enjoyed Friday evenings, please come along on a Monday at 6 and join us in our weekly informal match. If you'd like a bit of coaching, one of our certified coaches will be available from 5 to give a few pointers.
Nominations for the Committee

Sheets are now up in the clubhouse to nominate people for the committee, prior to the voting at the AGM in November. Every position is up for election, so please feel free to nominate/second people (with their consent) who you think can help to run our club.
Don't forget Triples Day!

Our final internal knockout tournament of the season is on Saturday 23rd August, possibly running onto 24th for the finals, depending on number of entrants. We're hoping to have hot dogs/ burgers afterwards - volunteer chef needed!
Sign up online or on the app, or look out for the sheet in the clubhouse.
Match Report
Over 55s at home to Mark Moor - Weds 30th July
Banwell hosted Mark Moor in a bit of a one-sided affair. President Barry's team led the charge, starting with a 6 on the first end. After winning 7 straight ends, the opposing team won an end. The eventual score was 38-9. Points were 10-2
There were wins on 4 other rinks. The score was 132 to 79, a comprehensive win. Well done all.
North 1A team away to Ashcombe A
The A team fared less well than the over 55s, losing on all 3 rinks; Barry's team lost heavily. Paul's team also suffered a loss and Chris's team missed out by 2 points.
There was no B team match this week.
North Somerset Mixed League away to Victoria - Sun 3rd August
We had a very entertaining morning at Victoria in the NSML on Sunday. There was a delayed start as both teams thought they were playing away! However, Victoria happily made their way back home and we continued in good spirits, one Victoria lady saying that she had enjoyed her trip out and wasn't Banwell pretty!
Both teams played well with Dave Williams' team (Shawn, Doreen and Brian) winning 6-4 and 6-5. Wendy's team (Elaine, Mike Dolling and Dave) won the first game 12-3 but lost 5-6 in the second. The overall score was 25 pts to Banwell and 15 to Victoria. We finished off with tea and loads of cake - thanks to their Chairman and a nearby Tesco!
