And all of a sudden ..... the season is over

Captain's Day players

It was sunny, if not quite so warm, for our last match of the season. There was a sociable atmosphere as members wandered in. Everyone got collared by Dee for a contribution to the day's spider, and then got collared again by Wendy for the match fee!

After our obligatory Captain's Day photo, it was one foot in the ditch, ready for the spider. Bob won the whisky, then we were ready to go - the Captain's team vs the President's team; a weird situation, as Barry - currently doing both roles - was playing himself!

The winner?

We all met in the clubhouse after for drinks and a fantastic tea; thanks, Wendy and helpers. Barry gave an end-of-season speech, handed out gifts and announced the winner - the captain.

It was a lovely end to a fantastic season. Let's all look forward to doing it all again next year!

Successful bid for funding

At the start of the season, Banwell Bowling Club applied for a Tesco Stronger Starts grant to install a screen in the clubhouse, to enable our members and visitors to access our website and our app. Click here to read the details on our website

The club has been successful in being selected as 1 of 3 organisations for the customer vote in Tesco stores.  Voting will commence in store from the first week in October 2025 until mid-January 2026. The project with the highest number of votes across our region will receive up to £1,500, the second placed project up to £1,000 and the third placed project £500. 

What can I do?

Between October and January, when you shop at any Tesco in the Weston area (including Cheddar) collect a token at the checkout, then pop it into the Banwell bucket - simple! The more tokens we collect, the more money we might be given.

Tell your friends, your neighbours, your sporting colleagues, your indoor bowling pals and everyone else you know......every little helps!

Quiz Night, 20th September

Don't forget to let us know if you are coming, so that we can plan tables, etc; click here to RSVP on the website, or scroll along to the Events tab on the app. If you want to sign up more than one person, click the down arrow to set the number of people (up to six per team).

Come early to get a good table, and don't forget to bring your snacks! Just a reminder to please bring a raffle prize if you can.

Annual General Meeting

This year's AGM will be on Friday 21st November at 6pm in the clubhouse. Please make sure you have all your nominations, seconds, etc and anything for the agenda into Wendy by 30th September, as after that date they cannot be included.

Annual Dinner

Our annual dinner and presentation evening is on Saturday 29th November at Worlebury Golf Club.

It is £31 per person, payable to Chris via bacs or by cheque.
