Green News - Fox Attack

Sorry about the previous post. Pressed the wrong icon oops!

In the last couple of days, it seems as though the fox has taken too much of an interest in the green with the resultant damage you can see below. We have our fingers tightly crossed that it is a 'one off'

In other green news... Due to the very wet and then freezing weather our contractors have been unable to work on the green since 5 January. However, today they were able to restart the winter maintenance. The green was aerated with solid tines today. Further maintenance work will take place this month before the main pre-season work commences in March.

Soil samples were taken in early January and the test results have recently returned from the lab. Results are encouraging with the pH, Organic Matter and Calcium all roughly where we would like them. Magnesium and Potassium is low so we can look into putting some of that on before the season starts.

Gerry Bean has been very busy and has completed replacing the old and decaying rink marker battening with new boarding around the whole circumference of the green. Not only is it very practical it also looks good too. A lot of time, effort, blood, sweat and one or two tears. Thanks Gerry
